November Program Meeting

Our November program meeting will be at the Society Building in the museum. It is being held Wednesday, November 5th at 7:00 PM. It is being presented by Elwood Taylor, a retired history teacher living in Upper Pottsgrove. Elwood has amassed a collection of over 2500 magazines from the World War II era, each featuring a powerful visual statement of patriotism.

In July 1942, amid the turmoil of war, nearly all magazines printed in that month broke from their usual formats to display a unifying cover image: an American flag accompanied by the words “UNITED WE STAND.” This coordinated effort was more than just a patriotic gesture; it was a strategic campaign to bolster morale and encourage Americans to buy War Bonds in support of the war effort.

Elwood will share highlights from his collection, explaining their role in rallying the home front during a pivotal moment in American history. Please join us for this “United We Stand” program.
