June Program
Our June 4th Program at 7:00 will be about the PA Turnpike. This program will be presented by Luann Zambanini, one of our own members of the Boyertown Area Historical Society. This road was America’s first super highway, opened October 1, 1940. When it opened the cost to drive it was 1 cent per mile.
We would guess everyone knows of the PA Turnpike and has driven on it more than once. Luann will explain details about the building of this superhighway and explain what part of the future of the PA Turnpike may be. You’ll be reminded there were rest stops where you could get food and ice cream, and the bus system that first used this highway. She will take about the turnpike world before EZ Pass and since EZ Pass.
Come over, sit back and enjoy this program.
