April Program Meeting

Bobb’s Mill restoration presentation by Gene Kehler, of Pennsylvania Craftsmen Construction Co.

Our April Program is scheduled to be held in our newly renovated museum. The presentation will be by our own board member, Gene Kehler. Gene is the proprietor of Pennsylvania Craftsmen Construction Co. of Barto. Gene’s passion is the restoration of old buildings, especially mills and barns. Bobb’s Mill, on Forgedale Road in Barto was built by hand labor in the early 1730’s. The roof was about to cave in from years of neglect. This roof would not have lasted through another Pennsylvania winter had it not gotten some much needed attention.

Gene was hired to do the refurbishing for this project and so began the labor of love that Gene put into the building. Gene and two other men worked for over 12 weeks rescuing the structure and roof of this historic mill.

Gene’s photos will show you can not have a fear of heights to do a job of this magnitude. Come and join us to see the love Gene and the ohter men showed to this old mill. They brought it back to a beautiful part of history our area.
