Stahl’s Pottery Field Trip
Our August Meeting will be a MEMBERS ONLY field trip!
Our Wednesday, August 6th program meeting will be a trip to Stahl’s Pottery!
The starting time will be 6:30 PM
Stahl’s Pottery, 6826 Corning Rd, Zionsville, in the lovely Powder Valley of Pennsylvania. This homestead area was also an early twentieth-century redware pottery location. Brothers Thomas and Isaac Stahl revived the pottery at the current site, after learning the art of potting from their father in the nineteenth century. Included on the site are the potting shed and the round, wood-fired, beehive kiln, as well as the Thomas and Alice Stahl House. The site functioned from 1934 until 1956, when the round kiln was fired for the last time. By 1950, both Thomas and Isaac had passed, and the pottery was run by Isaac’s son, Russell Stahl, who eventually bought the site from Tom’s widow and owned it to his death in 1986.
Join us on our journey back to when and how the pottery was created in Zionsville.
