Celebrate 250 Years at Freedom Fest!

Join the Boyertown Area Historical Society for an unforgettable week-long celebration as we honor the 250th anniversary of our country! From historic museum openings to big band dancing and festive park activities, there is something for everyone to enjoy as we reflect on our nation’s journey and our local heritage.

Schedule of Events: July 3rd – July 11th

Thursday, July 3rd Kick off the festivities with the Grand Opening of the Historical Society Museum and the official debut of the Boyertown Bell Trail. Explore our local history and begin your journey along the trail!

Friday, July 4th  Both the Historical Society and the Spaatz Museum will be open to the public for a day of patriotic reflection.

Saturday, July 5th Put on your dancing shoes for the Director’s Big Band Dance! Join us at the Keystone Fire Hall from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM for an afternoon of classic music and community fun.

Sunday, July 6th & Monday, July 7th Listen for the sound of freedom as we hold a town-wide ringing of the bells at high noon on both days.

Tuesday, July 8th Capture a moment in time at the Historical Society with Silhouette Drawing, a classic 17th-century art form.

Wednesday, July 9th It’s Museum Day! Enjoy free admission from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at all our local treasures, including the Historical Society, the Spaatz Museum, and the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles.

Thursday, July 10th Relax with the family and enjoy a free movie at the State Theatre.

Friday, July 11th: The Grand Finale at Boyertown Park We’re wrapping up the week with our massive Freedom Fest at Boyertown Park! Step back in time as you sign a replica of the Declaration of Independence and watch the George Washington and Betsy Ross look-alike contest.

Also during Freedom Fest, join John Hancock and his fellow delegates for a historical mystery hosted by Park House Products! In the sweltering heat of the Continental Congress, Mr. Hancock’s special silver quill has gone missing. We need your help to track the mysterious borrower from the blacksmith’s forge to the waterfront docks. Gather the clues, identify the delegate, and help recover the pen so the Declaration of Independence can be signed with the bold flourish it deserves!

Experience the sights and sounds of the revolution with a Fife and Drum march through the park and enjoy a special 250th-themed Story Walk. With plenty of food, local vendors, and community spirit, it’s the perfect way to celebrate our country’s milestone anniversary.
