All programs of the Historical Society are free to members and students.

May 3, 2017- Bob and Susie presented a travelling antique show
of vintage and antique laundry implements.  They used the implements to explain
the Wash Day process.   Washing clothing was both time consuming and physically taxing,
a chore  that occupied most women on Mondays, the traditional day to wash clothing.  
This was an excellent well received program.

June 7, 2017 – Just Passing Through, a history of people travelling through
Berks county during the 1800s  
Another excellent program.

October 4, 2017 – “The Pearl of Richmond School”, a talk by Dori Hoch
about attending school in a one room schoolhouse,
based on her book by the same title

November 1, 2017 – Paul Druzba presented a talk on the history of
Carsonia Park, books were available for purchase.

December 6, 2017 - a Christmas show and tell,
people were invited to bring in a favorite gift for display
( to be set up a few days ahead)  and  
attendees were asked to match the gifts to their owners.  
Each person made a few brief comments about their gift

Jeff is the leader of the Oley Valley
Pennsylvania Dutch club.  He will teach some basic words
and will provide background on the Pennsylvania Dutch.
